When will we see the paperless shipment?

An interesting article from Air Cargo World heralds the demise of paper shipping documentation, potentially saving the transportation industry upwards of $5bn. per year.

“The current paper-based air cargo transportation process generates around 30 documents per shipment, making for a large and weighty “pouch.” Andreas Otto, a member of Lufthansa Cargo’s executive board, … pledged to “get rid of all the useless paper by 2020.”   Read More here…

Shippers will benefit hugely from the digitizing of this information, because the data will be more readily available for freight management and optimization purposes. Polygon customers already use electronic data from Logistics Service Providers in this way.
